This book bridges the paradigm gaps between World Englishes, language acquisition and sociolinguistics. It combines qualitative and quantitative approaches and draws on psycholinguistic, corpus-linguistic, and ethnographic methodologies to open up new research avenues that allow us to question what is considered ‘common knowledge’ in these areas and shows how a joint approach can contribute to a deeper theoretical understanding of child language.
