Description

This book combines the traditions of grammatical description and variationism to analyse the morphology of the Murrinhpatha verb. It explores the rigid patterns of verbal word formation ( grammatical rules ) and those which show substantial variation between lexical items or between speech tokens ( variables ). The integration of grammatical description and quantitative variationist analysis provides insight into the language as a dynamic system.
