Description

Written words are traditionally seen as a linear sequence of letters. This book presents a non-linear graphematic approach which supplements linearity with a hierarchical structure. This hierarchy of graphematic units comprises letter features, letters, graphemes, syllables, feet and words. The approach is backed by structural and experimental evidence and analyses within the OT-framework. The focus lies on the unit foot and on English and German.
