Phub Zam, a pioneering entrepreneur from Bhutan, has forged an extraordinary path in business and diplomacy.
Born in Chapcha and educated at St. Joseph’s Convent in Kalimpong, India, she embodies resilience, innovation,
and leadership. As the President of Yarkay Group Private Limited, she has spearheaded transformative ventures
in construction, hospitality, and real estate, shaping Bhutan’s economic landscape. In 2011, she was appointed
Honorary Consul for Sweden in Bhutan, and on December 3, 2019, she was conferred the prestigious Royal Or-
der of the Polar Star by Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden — an honor awarded
to foreign nationals who have rendered exceptional service to Sweden. Breaking barriers, she made history as the
first woman to serve as President of both the Construction Association of Bhutan (2012–2016) and the Bhutan
Chamber of Commerce & Industry (2016–2020), paving the way for greater female leadership in the business
sector. From a teenage mother to a trailblazing business leader, Phub Zam’s journey is a powerful testament to
perseverance, vision, and the courage to redefine what is possible.
Phub Zam was born in Chapcha, Bhutan, and began her education at St. Joseph’s Convent in Kalimpong, West Bengal, India. This early schooling laid the foundation for her disciplined approach to business and leadership. Over the decades, she has played an active role in Bhutan’s economic landscape, contributing to various sectors through entrepreneurship and institutional leadership.
